Marney Margules Bio
Marney Margules, lyric mezzo-soprano from Philadelphia, PA., performs opera, lieder, musical comedy and cabaret. She is equally at home in the concert hall, theater, or cabaret repertoire. She has performed in productions in New York City and throughout the Bay Area.
Marney has most recently appeared as “Maddalena” in Verismo Opera’s production of Rigoletto this fall, the role of “Mama McCourt” in Berkeley Opera’s production of “The Ballad of Baby Doe” this past summer, and "Cherubino" in California Opera Academy’s production of ‘Happy Birthday Mr. Mozart!”. She has performed and self-produced solo concert performances throughout the Bay Area of “Call Me Mister,” a collection of trouser-role arias and songs, and "So In Love," a one-woman cabaret show at The Larkspur Theater in Larkspur, CA. In addition, Marney has sung in productions with San Francisco’s Lamplighters, the Cappuccino Music theater, and at Penninsula Beth El in a gala concert program. Recordings include JERICHO – A video game soundtrack scored at Skywalker Sound Studios, and jazz tracks for the international children's television series Sesame Street™. She will continue performing the role of “Maggdalena” in Verismo Opera’s production of “Rigoletto” throughout 2011.
She lives in San Rafael with her husband, Cantor David Margules, her two children Benny and Danielle and loving doggy Kairos.
